GSM Mobile Network- For improvement of the GSM Mobile Network BSNL’s Corporate plan for the year 2021-22 is as under:-

1.   BSNL provides mobile telephone connection on GSM technology.

  • As on 31.11.2021 BSNL has covered all the District Headquarters of the country with GSM services. It has covered 3,132 out of 3,134 Tehsil Headquarters, 6,467 out of 6,534 Block HQs, 67,703 Kms out of 77,419 Kms National Highway, 1,19,536 Kms out of 1,63,543 Kms State Highways and 50,198 Kms out of 60,516 Kms. Railway route etc. BSNL has already covered 4.37 Lakhs villages by GSM services.
  • BSNL has GSM customer base of 113.19 million as on 30.11.2021.
  • Mobile 3G/4G service:- BSNL has covered 6,272 Cities / Towns with 3G services. At present 4G services are being provided on limited scale on existing 3G spectrums due to non –availability of separate 4G spectrum. However, in such scenario, BSNL is not able to provide 3G and 4G services simultaneously at present place.
  • BSNL has planned to cover the villages with GSM services in coming years subject to techno commercial viability

 

2.   Plan for 4G services of BSNL.

Presently BSNL has launched 4G services at limited scale by utilizing the existing available spectrum, which is also being used for providing 3G services. In this arrangement, 8,637 no of 4G nodes are presently working in BSNL Network. Further BSNL is planning to expand its 4G footprint through Proof of Concept under “AtmaNirbhar Bharat” initiative of the GoI.
