Job Responsibilities of CIT Unit
•
Formulation of Corporate IT strategy and coordination with IT
circle for implementation of IT systems in BSNL, in line with overall company strategy
o Defining and aligning IT needs of all business units as well as shared support functions
o Purpose and utility
oScope and specifications
o Monitoring development progress in terms of implementation and Operations
oGuidance to in-house development team for smaller projects
oVendor management for larger outsourced projects (e.g. ERP)
•
Coordination with IT Circle for
o Testing and user
acceptance
o Roll-out to all Circles and other field units
o Pro-active testing of beta technologies
o Incorporating adequate security and disaster recovery capabilities for key systems
•
Operationalisation of Corporate IT strategy through multiple
layers
•
Maintenance of IT Infrastructure in Corporate
Office
•
Providing day-to-day technical support to all verticals of
corpoarte Office on issues such as :
o Hardware
o Software
o Connectivity
o Security & Antivirus
•
Formulation of annual Corporate IT budget
o In-house projects
o Outsourced projects
o Hardware and software
•
Monitoring performance against prescribed targets
o Budget spend (at Head Office and by Circle)
o Implementation status of projects (Corporate and business unit-specific)
•
Implementation of ERP project through external vendors
o Monitoring development progress in terms of implementation and operation
o Testing and user acceptance
o Roll-out to all Circles and other field units
o Training for relevant personnel

Reviewing scope of project on a periodic basis
•
Planning , coordinating & implementation of converged OSS/BSS
systems for customer care & billing of all lines of business
